I am the tenth Dean of the London Business School. Since 2024, I am also a tenured Professor of Economics at LBS. In 2022-24 I was the Provost of Sciences Po, Paris. Since 2013, I have also been Professor of Economics at Sciences Po, teaching and doing research in political economics, labor mobility, development and transition economics. In 2016-19 I served as the Chief Economist of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. In 2004-13 I was the Rector of the New Economic School in Moscow.

My career has been defined by one mission: building systems that bring structural order to chaotic, high-value data. I bring the velocity of a founder and the discipline of a quant to solve your hardest data problems. I am a veteran practitioner who bridges the gap between theoretical rigor and commercial reality. My track record includes: - Founder-to-Exit Success: Founded *Viridios AI*, architected the industry-standard AI platform for the voluntary carbon market, and successfully exited the company to Bloomberg in 2024. - Institutional Leadership: Over 20 years leading AI, ML and quantitative analytics teams at global institutions including Morgan Stanley, ING, and Standard Bank. - Deep Technical Roots: PhD in Mathematical Finance from Imperial College. We are entering a new phase of AI where probabilistic isn't enough for high-stakes enterprise decisions. I specialize in the next layer of the stack: - Reliable AI: Integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) with ontologies and neuro-symbolic architectures to eliminate hallucinations. - Financial Engineering: Applying foundational models (Transformers) to time series forecasting with financial markets data. - Data Strategy: Transforming unstructured enterprise data into queryable, logic-based assets.
