Head of data policy for GIZ on the Data Governance for Africa project, adjunct professor for open education at ung.si. I am the previous head of product and tech at atingi.org, former research lead at Kiron digital learning platform & I have worked on the topic of Open Educational Resources for the OECD, as external consultant and for UNESCO on measuring equity and affordability in tertiary education, on ICT and AI in education, and for the Worldbank advising on internal funding allocation at HEIs and on admission to higher education. For over a decade I was employed as a senior researcher at the German Centre for Research into Higher Education and Science Studies (Deutsches Zentrum für Hochschul- und Wissenschaftsforschung) in Hanover and, for nearly 4 years at FiBS Research, a Berlin-based think tank focused on lifelong learning. My specialist areas of interest are comparative studies on higher education, digitalisation and digitally-enhanced teaching and learning, funding and quality assurance, and social dimensions of European higher education reform. My undergraduate studies in product management were completed at Southbank University in London and I graduated from the Technical University Dresden with a doctorate in comparative education. I come from a family of entrepreneurs and designers.

I’m a Recognition Technologist and Credentials Cartographer working at the nexus of education, technology, and global policy. As Director of Global Ecosystem and Innovation at Instructure, I lead strategic initiatives that advance learner-centric recognition systems, credential portability, and data interoperability. I work with global partners to translate complex challenges into practical, scalable solutions—connecting education and employment through innovation and aligned strategy. My work spans timezones —from shaping digital credentialing platforms and frameworks across Europe, Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region, to supporting UNESCO’s Global Recognition efforts. I currently serve as Co-chair of the W3C Verifiable Credentials for Education Task Force and Chairperson of the Credential Engine Advisory Group. These roles allow me to contribute to the development of open standards and infrastructures that make recognition more transparent, portable, and meaningful. I’m a strong advocate of framing micro-credentialing through the lens of “Policy as Data” to bridge the gap between frameworks and practice, ensuring learners and workers can navigate systems more easily and equitably. At the heart of my work is a belief that recognition is about more than compliance—it’s about belonging. I strive to turn data into dialogue, credentials into connection, and strategy into systems that support life-long recognition. How about lunch ?
