I'm a product-focused leader, experience designer, teacher, and hardware + software developer. I've spent the last 10 years developing connected objects, applications, and experiences with emphasis on video, wireless, embedded and wearable computing, internet of things, mobile apps, education, and data.
I like to make fast, fail fast, analyze, learn, and repeat. I enjoy the challenge of finding creative + efficient solutions for solving complex problems. I’m a seasoned leader, well-versed in all phases of project management and execution from concept and strategy to system architecture, team management, usability testing, iteration, production and deployment.
Since 2010 I've been teaching (HW + SW development, UX, and prototyping courses) in the MFA Design and Technology Masters program at Parsons School for Design in NYC. In 2012 I joined as a partner and Lead Developer of Incredible Machines, an experiential marketing startup creating interactive activations for brands and events. In that time I also continued personal and freelance projects, co-founding the Air Quality Egg Kickstarter (2012, $144k raised), and leading the hardware and app dev for the Google Talking Shoe project (SXSW, Cannes Lions, 2013). I've consulted for IBM and enjoy workshopping and presenting work as often as possible.
My work has been featured in publications such as the New York Times, Wired Magazine and online blogs including Engadget, Gizmodo and MAKE. I've shown my work and given talks in the US, Europe, Asia, and Africa, at venues and conferences such as SXSW Interactive, Venice Biennale, Medialab-Prado Madrid, PICNIC Festival, Open Hardware Summit, Eye On Earth Abu Dhabi, World Maker Faire, Design Indaba, and more.
