Peggy Smyth is a highly regarded board director with over 20 years of experience in both public and private equity-backed companies prioritizing people and sustainability. She currently serves as an Independent Director on several notable boards, including Etsy (Nasdaq: ETSY, Audit Committee Chair and Risk Governance Committee), Remitly (Nasdaq: RELY, Audit Committee Chair) and Frontier Communications (Nasdaq: FYBR, Audit Committee Chair, Nominating and Governance and Strategic Review Committees). Additionally, she is the Audit Committee Chair of Pearce Services, a New Mountain Capital-owned company. As a part-time Partner at QIC, she focuses on energy transition infrastructure investments and corporate governance. Recognized as a transformative financial leader, Peggy was CFO at National Grid US (2014–2021), where she drove significant growth in operating profit (10.6% CAGR), capital investment (10.4% CAGR to $4.2B annually) and rate base (8.9% CAGR to $25.6B). This enabled the company to become an energy transition leader through strategic investments in battery storage, solar energy, and electric vehicle infrastructure. She began her career at Arthur Andersen, leading the North American Assurance Technology, Media, and Communications practice, and later held a leadership role at Deloitte & Touche. She also served five years on the IASB’s IFRS Interpretations Committee. Peggy holds an MS in Accounting from New York University's Stern School of Business and a BA in Economics from Fordham University. She is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Global Management Accountant, and holds the SASB FSA Credential. She has completed certificates in Cyber-Risk Oversight from NACD, Artificial Intelligence from NYU/Intellibus, and CyberScholarship from NYU Law/Nasdaq. A sought-after speaker, Peggy has presented at prominent forums, including leading the CFO Roundtable at the United Nations. She has been recognized as one of the “100 Most Influential Women in Energy.” She serves on the Executive Committee of Fordham University’s President’s Council, the Audit Committee of Concern Worldwide, and the Nasdaq Center for Board Excellence Advisory Council. Peggy resides in New York and County Roscommon, Ireland, holding dual US-EU citizenship.
