I'm a digital nomad Rec2Rec supporting the US market for the last 8 years! I'm 3 years and 30 countries into travelling the world so far. Currently in 📍Mexico City, Mexico 🇲🇽 My journey in recruitment... CVs, KPIs, cold calls, clients and candidates have been a part of my world since I started my own journey in recruitment 12 years ago. As many of you out there will have done, I “fell into” recruitment. My story starts in the basement of a club in Manchester and ends with me wearing only one sock and meeting one of those people that I know I will forever have a beautiful long-lasting friendship with. So, I met a girl and her sister in the club. Her name was Levi, not only a name I once wanted as my own (but that’s a story for another time), but also the brand of one of the odd socks that I was wearing with the name emblazoned across it. In my wisdom I decided that she wanted, nay, NEEDED this sock. It would complete her night! So, I preceded to take off my sock and demand she takes it and keeps it for safekeeping in her handbag. She did as I asked. We partied the night away, posted the pictures on an Instagram in its infancy and went our separate ways, never to meet again, or so we thought. A few days later, out of work and beating the pavement in a rainy Manchester from agency to agency seeing if there were any jobs that would suit an affable, university drop out. I made my way into an agency called Tate and a bouncy young lady came to the door and recognised me. I didn’t recognise her; she was in her corporate gear and had glasses on (she is the Superman/Clark Kent of recruitment). It was Levi! She said to me; “I think you would be a great recruiter… “. So, I sat down with her Manager, Alison and 2 hours later, I had another interview with the Regional Manager, Tracy. I turned up in my tweed jacket and smartest attire I could find in my wardrobe. We were sat in a very small interview room with a very noisy and heat-spewing IT server for 3 hours!
