We could all feel it—we were on the brink of a breakthrough. During a design sprint, the team had spent hours poring over our customer discovery notes and brainstorming solutions for commercializing a machine learning model built to predict pain in animals, yet nothing seemed quite right. With ten minutes left, the pieces began to click into place. I couldn’t conceal the disappointment in my voice when I noted the time. In unison, the team expressed their eagerness to press on. That extended session led to the development of a prototype that garnered over 70K downloads, a pilot expansion to 100 hospitals across Canada, and a dozen healthcare and research applications for an API in less than six months. My passion for innovation flourishes when empowering others to explore their creative potential.
