The Global Good Fund is a nonprofit social enterprise built by social entrepreneurs for social entrepreneurs. We identify leaders who stand to achieve greater social impact with executive mentorship, professional leadership coaching and capital. We believe growing leaders is the most effective strategy for solving complex social problems and achieving global good.

Mercedes Bidart

•

Mercedes Bidart is the CEO and Co-founder of Quipu, a financing platform for informal businesses in Latam, building an equitable AI credit score. Born and raised in Argentina, Mercedes studied Political Science at the University of Buenos Aires and worked at CIPPEC supporting local governments in Latin America and at TECHO in the microfinance program. She then completed a master's degree in Cities at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on a Fulbright scholarship. At MIT, she founded Quipu after going through the MIT DesignX incubator. Since 2021, Mercedes has been based in Colombia, expanding Quipu's solution to support more than 9,000 micro-businesses to date. Mercedes is a Fellow of the Cartier Women’s Initiative 2024, The Global Good Fund, and the Tallberg Foundation. She is also a research affiliate at the MIT Community Innovators Lab. Quipu was recognized by Fast Company as one of the ten most innovative companies in LATAM in 2022 and by Accion’s Center for Financial Inclusion as one of the 50 most inclusive Fintechs in the world.

I believe in making the world better through business and leadership. That is why I co-founded The Global Good Fund over a decade ago to invest in high potential, overlooked social entrepreneurs. Many entrepreneurs need access to capital to scale, so I went on to found and manage the Global Impact Fund, which is dedicated to investing in socially impactful businesses, primarily led by overlooked founders. My fourth book, Impact The World: Live Your Values and Drive Changes as a Citizen Statesperson, was published by Wiley in May 2022 and is now a WSJ and Amazon Best Seller. I give back by serving on corporate and nonprofit boards and by volunteering in my local community with our three young children. Clementine Chambon

Clementine is a clean energy entrepreneur with climate tech research and consulting experience. She co-founded and is CTO of Oorja, an award-winning enterprise dedicated to expanding clean energy infrastructure for use by smallholder farmers. Under her leadership, Oorja has deployed and operates over 230 decentralised solar projects used by ca. 40,000 people in India. Clementine previously advised governments, philanthropists, investors and companies on the future of climate tech and clean energy, including the Grantham Institute for Climate Change, the New Climate Economy project and the European Commission. Clementine also conducted research on the technical and economic feasibility of various energy technologies for bringing affordable electricity to rural consumers. Clementine holds a PhD from Imperial College London and an M.Eng in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cambridge, where she obtained triple First Class Honours. She is a keen linguist who speaks French, German, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese and conversational Hindi. Clementine was selected as a World Economic Forum Top Innovator, Echoing Green Climate Fellow, Global Good Fund Fellow, Forbes 30 Under 30 Social Entrepreneur, Bayer Foundation Women Entrepreneur, 100 Most Influential People in UK-India Relations, Meaningful Business 100, an MIT Technology Review Innovator Under 35 and Social Innovator of the Year, a Salters' Institute Centenary Award winner, Chemistry World Entrepreneur of the Year, IChemE Ambassador, IChemE Global Young Researcher, and a Red Magazine Woman of the Year.
