I was born in the US and have lived in Colombia and Argentina. I am a trilingual journalist with over 23 years experience in various markets worldwide.
Sometimes life helps you find your passion by allowing you to go in circles. Frank Sinatra described my career when he sang "I was a puppet, a pauper, a pirate, a poet, a pawn and a king". I did everything and did nothing as I was unable to find my true place in the world. Then I was unexpectedly placed in a commentary booth five minutes to air and had no clue what to do.
Much to say, that was one of the more embarrassing moments in my life. Yet who would have thought that 18 years later, that embarrassing moment would be the source of a career that has led me to a passionate journey of a game that was taught to me by my father in our backyard and while he would tell me tales of Brazil's 1970 World Cup squad.
Since then I have covered three World Cups, four Copa Americas, five Gold Cups and various leagues around the world. From La Liga to the Colombian league, from the Bundesliga to Liga MX, from CONCACAF Champions League to Europa League, from Serie A to the Chilean League I have done commentary as well as analyst work for various clients abroad and in the United States. One also can say that from an American standpoint, one was a trailblazer having achieved feats that seemed very unlikely:
I am the first US-born commentator to call Copa America, Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana for a non-US network as well as the only to ever call that tournament on a world feed in both English and Spanish. I am also the first American-born soccer analyst to work abroad for a non-US network covering a World Cup (2014, 2018). In addition to this, one was the first commentator to call the CONCACAF Gold Cup in two languages in two languages for an international audience.
In addition to broadcasting, I am beginning a new phase in my professional life as I am now also working in education as an adjunct professor and poised to also extend my education by learning a fourth language and eventually pursuing a doctorate.
