Adrien is a tech entrepreneur and investor at the forefront of blockchain and artificial intelligence technologies. His multidisciplinary background, spanning applied mathematics, computer science, and quantitative finance, provides him with a unique perspective on the evolving landscape of financial technology.
Currently, Adrien is the founder of Supervised, an enterprise intelligence platform that transforms unstructured organizational knowledge into strategic insights through AI-powered stakeholder engagement. Supervised enables Fortune 500 leaders to access ground-truth intelligence across their organization, dramatically improving decision velocity and operational visibility.
Previously, as the founder and former CEO of Metaco, a leading digital asset custody infrastructure provider, Adrien led the company to become a significant player in the institutional crypto market. Under his leadership, Metaco secured partnerships with major global banks including HSBC, Citi Bank, and Societe Generale, among others. In 2023, Metaco was acquired by the crypto firm Ripple for USD 250 million, marking a notable success in the blockchain industry.
Before his entrepreneurial endeavors, Adrien honed his skills in the financial sector, working as a quant in the hedge fund and banking industry. This experience provided him with valuable insights into financial markets and risk management, complementing his technical expertise.
Adrien's academic credentials include a PhD in Mathematics and a PostDoc in High-Performance Computing. He has shared his knowledge by lecturing at prestigious institutions such as the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne and the University of Lausanne, focusing on cryptography and blockchain applications.
Contributing to the field's body of knowledge, Adrien is a published scholar and co-author of "Blockchain and Distributed Ledgers: Mathematics, Technology, and Economics," a widely recognized book in the industry.
Beyond his professional achievements, Adrien is a multifaceted individual with a passion for music and martial arts. He holds a Diploma in Violin and a Master of Arts in Teaching Science, reflecting his dedication to the arts and education. Adrien is also a black belt in Taekwondo, demonstrating his commitment to discipline and personal growth. 
Prof. Dr. Philipp Sandner has founded the Frankfurt School Blockchain Center (FSBC) at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. From 2018 to 2021, he was ranked among the “top 30” economists by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), a major newspaper in Germany. Further, he belonged to the “Top 40 under 40” — a ranking by the German business magazine Capital. He has been a member of the FinTech Council and the Digital Finance Forum of the Federal Ministry of Finance in Germany. He is also on the Board of Directors of FiveT Fintech Fund and Blockchain Founders Group.
The expertise of Prof. Sandner includes blockchain technology in general, crypto assets such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, decentralized finance (DeFi), the digital euro, tokenization of assets, and digital identity.
Furthermore, he was engaged in the EU Blockchain Observatory established by the European Union. He co-founded the German Blockchain Association, the International Token Standardization Association (ITSA), the Digital Euro Association (DEA), the Multichain Asset Managers Association and the DLT Education Consortium (DEC). He also hosts two podcasts with broad reach, Block52 and Irgendwas mit Krypto.
The FSBC was launched in 2017 and analyzes the implications of blockchain technology on companies and business models. It provides a networking hub for managers, start-ups, and experts to exchange knowledge and best practices. Find more at: www.fs-blockchain.de
As head of the FSBC, Prof. Sandner also initiated the DLT Talents program to empower women in the blockchain space, the DeFi Talents program for education in the DeFi sector and the NFT Talents program for leadership in the NFT space - helping to educate hundreds of talents.
Before joining Frankfurt School, he co-founded a consulting company specialized in the area of innovation strategy, IP, and technology transfer. He was a research fellow at the Technical University Munich, the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, and the Berkeley Center for Law & Technology. Previous to that, he studied business administration with a focus on computer science at the University Mannheim.
