Crossing multiple disciplines with her practice, Marina Zurkow builds animations and participatory environments that are centered on humans and their relationship to animals, plants and the weather. Engaging audiences using film and video, sculpture, print graphics and public interventions, Zurkow’s work is by turns humorous and contemplative. In 2011 a solo exhibition of Zurkow’s work was featured at the Montclair Art Museum. Marina Zurkow is the recipient of a 2011 John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship. She has also been granted awards from the New York Foundation for the Arts, New York State Council for the Arts, the Rockefeller Foundation, and Creative Capital. James George is an Emmy-award winning artist, entrepreneur and computer scientist. James is a pioneer in volumetric video experience creation and software product development. He was CEO and Co-Founder of Scatter, a creative technology company that develops the original volumetric video capture software Depthkit. Scatter’s product Depthkit is the most widely used tool for creating volumetric video human holograms. First launched as an open source beta in 2011, Depthkit has enabled tens of thousand users to create volumetric video. Today, Depthkit serves a vibrant community of global enterprises and creative artists alike. James is the primary inventor on Scatter’s patents granted by the USPTO that represent Depthkit’s foundational intellectual property for volumetric video technology. He served as Executive Producer for Scatter’s virtual reality title Zero Days VR which won the first News & Documentary Emmy awarded to a 6DOF Virtual Reality experience. He was nominated for a second Emmy in 2022 for The Changing Same VR, for which he also acted as Executive Producer. Prior to founding Scatter, James was the first Artist-in-Residence at Microsoft Research in Redmond. He co-directed CLOUDS, the first virtual reality documentary to utilize volumetric video for human holograms. CLOUDS premiered at Sundance New Frontier in 2014; won the Tribeca Storyscapes Award for Transmedia that year; then toured globally before its exhibition at the New York Museum of Modern Art in 2016. James coined the term ‘Volumetric Filmmaking’ in his 2016 essay A New Dimension in Filmmaking to distinguish the creative artform from the underlying volumetric video technology. Volumetric filmmaking has been recognized as an important emerging medium by the world’s most influential film festivals, arts organization and largest technology and media companies including Microsoft, Google, Meta, Intel, WarnerMedia and Verizon.

CHiKA is a New York-based, Japanese artist who works in light sculptures, audiovisual performances, and technology. As an educator, she is the founder of a projection mapping and LED pixel mapping workshop, Mappathon™, teaching students projection mapping techniques, from conceptualizing to finalizing the installation. She has been showing her artwork and teaching in both the US and abroad. Her experience working as a real-time visual artist, VJ with experimental sound composers, 8-bit musicians, and club DJs, experimenting with improvisational communication with an audience in real-time highly influences her light installation artwork that evolved from Photography, Graphic Design, VJing, Projection-Mapping, to Light Sculpture. Her installations revolve around the Japanese homophone revealing the hidden meanings. It has a unique combination of meanings that are pronounced the same as another word but differs in purpose in Chinese characters. This concept expands her CHIKA’s experiences are a Paseo Festival advisory Council from 2017 - present, a Visible Future Lab Resident at the School of a Visual Arts in 2019, a New Media resident at Mana Contemporary in 2018, a Harvestworks Workspace resident, an Elsewhere Artist Resident in 2017, the Bronx Museum AIM Program, a Laboratory Resident a BRIC Media Arts Fellow, a Triangle Workshop Resident in 2016, Made in NY Media Center by IFP Resident in 2015, an Eyebeam Spring Summer Resident in 2013, and an Experimental TV Center Resident in 2009. Her work has been shown in the US as well as numerous international venues and festivals. Munira Khapra-Reininger is a values-driven leader committed to advancing equity, inclusion, and justice through the nonprofit and cultural sectors. She currently serves as Director of Development and External Affairs at The Laundromat Project, where she oversees fundraising, marketing, and communications to support community-rooted arts initiatives. With a foundation in economic justice work, Munira has helped grow and sustain pioneering arts organizations including Eyebeam, National Sawdust, Creative Time, and Queens Museum. Her work consistently centers fair labor practices, movement building, racial equity, and systems-level change within philanthropy and the arts. Munira earned a BA in Visual Arts and Art History from Barnard College, and an MA from New York University, where her graduate research critiqued the impact of neoliberalism on the cultural sector. As a consultant, Munira supports nonprofits in strengthening institutional giving strategies, development operations, and strategic messaging. She works exclusively with clients who demonstrate a clear commitment to liberatory practices and values, both internally and externally.
