I - am a software engineer; love puzzles, patterns, and building things; have been obsessed with computers and AGI since I was a kid. There's an indescribable sense of fulfillment that comes from solving a challenging puzzle, recognizing an abstract pattern, or combining raw elements and imagination into something that can better the lives of others. For the last 8+ years I've been helping organizations obtain that sense of fulfillment by designing resilient systems and developing scalable solutions to complex problems. Professionally, I've developed web apps, cross-platform desktop apps, mobile apps, device drivers, minor hardware systems, and integrations for third party platforms using languages and products such as Python, Java, PHP, JavaScript, C/C++, C#, Swift, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis. I am quite comfortable working on my own as an individual contributor, but I prefer to work with a passionate and dedicated team. Personally, I also tinker with system administration, weather prediction models, smart home automation, natural-language processing, contextual learning, and teaching math. I'm currently working on learning Rust and Haskell. My fascination with computers and artificial intelligence started in the early-2000s when my step-father brought home an IBM tower that wouldn't boot into the OS. I spent weeks navigating through BIOS menus and CLIs until that Windows 95 logo finally appeared on the monitor. Sometime afterward, I was shown Stanley Kubrick's '2001: A Space Odyssey' and I knew exactly what I wanted to do when I grew up - build a sentient computer. My colleagues know me to be a meticulous problem solver and seeker of knowledge. This is likely because of two facts: I will do whatever I can to understand every detail of the challenge that I am faced with; I will gladly accept feedback and insight from others. While I am code agnostic and very much believe in using the right tool for the job, I can certainly appreciate defaulting to what you're comfortable with. In my opinion, the combination of collaboration, dedication, and trust almost always yields the most reliable and maintainable software. I’m always excited to work on artificial general intelligence (AGI), augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), robotics, cybernetics, brain-computer interfaces (BCI), whole genome sequencing, edtech, IoT, and automation.
