Matej Michalko is a blockchain pioneer and post-quantum entrepreneur. His company Decent Cybersecurity is part of a €32M AIDA project funded by the European Defence Fund under the European Commission. The company has NATO, EU and national security clearances at the SECRET level. Decent Cybersecurity is ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certified by TÜV SÜD. In just two years, his company, Decent Cybersecurity, went global with offices in eight countries. Matej and his company won various startup awards, including Startup of the Year, Best Newcomer, and Challenger Award for the fastest-growing tech company. He was honored to receive the 30 under 30 award by Forbes. Matej was among the short list of nominees for the IBC Young Pioneer award for his achievements in building and running a successful blockchain company. In 2023 he became the national coordinator for Slovakia of NIAG SG-294 (NATO Industrial Advisory Group) Zero-Trust Architecture for Federated Environments study group. In 2025 Matej became Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Critical Infrastructure Association of the Slovak Republic.
Matej started to mine Bitcoin on his laptop CPU in 2010, then passed into GPUs, FPGAs and ASICs. He founded and successfully sold ALAX (full-fledged independent Android Google Play alternative for mobile phone games in Asia), co-founded 3IPK (blockchain traceability B2G and B2B SaaS solutions sold to Fortune Global 500, Thales and Airbus, Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Central Europe 2023, winner of the Companies to Watch category) and since 2013 served as the CEO of many pioneering Bitcoin, blockchain, and cryptocurrency-focused conferences in countries such as Austria, China, Belgium, UK (BitcoinExpo, Central European Bitcoin Expo, BTC2B Congress, etc.). This includes the very first international Bitcoin, Blockchain and Cryptocurrency conference taking place in China and the second Bitcoin conference in the UK. Matej Michalko founded the first Bitcoin marketing agency in the world, the first cryptocurrency e-gaming consulting firm and served as a consultant to the government of the Isle of Man. He has more than 15 years of cryptography and blockchain experience.
