I left finance & consulting to join a bootstrapped startup (Xpenser) after reading Paul Graham's essays in 2010. That startup got acquired into a fast growing venture backed startup (Coupa), one thing led to another rapidly growing startup (Affirm) and after a brief stop at a turnaround (RainforestQA), I'm old and my back hurts and I've spent a decade operating as a generalist in the chaos of fast growing start-ups.
