Charlotte Japp Crater is a Business Development Leader at Cooley, the #1 law firm in the US and globally for VC financings. In addition to technology companies, the firm represents 700+ venture capital funds. In her career, Charlotte has worked at XRC Ventures, ff Venture Capital, TikTok, Live Nation, VICE, and consulted with several early stage startups. She graduated from Georgetown University with honors. During her time as a VC Platform leader, Charlotte worked with seed stage startups in FinTech, AI, B2B SaaS, consumer products, and robotics. She also oversaw brand marketing for funds to expand visibility across the US, Canada, Israel, and Central & Eastern Europe. In 2018, Charlotte founded CIRKEL (cirkel.co), a startup aiming to address ageism in the workforce and help older workers thrive along the longer lifespan (and workspan). Sophia Breggia counsels clients on a range of regulatory and enforcement matters, primarily in the financial services sector, including those before the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), the Department of the Treasury (OFAC and FinCEN) and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Her practice involves advising financial institutions, private fintech companies, and public companies engaged in the blockchain and cryptocurrency space on compliance with federal law and regulation, including in the realms of securities, commodities, anti-money laundering, and economic sanctions, among others. Sophia has experience conducting independent investigations, representing clients subject to government investigations, and counseling clients facing enforcement matters before the Department of Justice (DOJ), the SEC, and the CFTC. Additionally, Sophia has assisted on compliance assessments of large cryptocurrency companies and traditional financial institutions, involving those entities’ anti-money laundering, countering the financing of terrorism, and economic sanctions programs, as well as involving electronic recordkeeping policies. Sophia is a graduate of Harvard Law School, where she served as the Executive Online Editor of the Harvard Journal on Legislation, a Research Assistant to Professor Randall Kennedy, and a clinic student extern with a legislative advocacy focused team at Protect Democracy.
