Working at the intersection of aviation and public transit, our team is helping to catalyze Sustainable Aviation Fuel supply and increase electrical supply at regional airports. Excited for regional electric aircraft to hit the market, changing the economics of regional routes via that small airport near home. In transit, we are automating 40' battery electric buses within depots and leveraging computer vision to enable real-time data for passengers with wheelchairs or bikes. Nearly a decade of experience across air, rail, and mass transit in strategic, technical, and operational roles. Over the last 20 years, I have flown over 450,000 miles for University, to see loved ones abroad, and pursue new opportunities. I have used a British Airways logbook from 2003 as an excuse to chat with Captains. For our kids to enjoy the magic of air travel however, we need to reduce aviation emissions (CO2 and non-CO2). ——TECHNICAL PROFICIENCIES—— AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (S3, RDS, Athena) Python, C#, R, SQL, Git Power Apps/Automate/BI Data Science Fundamentals ——CAREER HIGHLIGHT————— One highlight was launching real-time passenger information for Maryland Transit’s light rail in 2022 (think predicted arrival times on apps and at stations). I am an entrepreneur and climate professional focused on decarbonizing the private sector. My passion is connecting people, capital, and ideas to deploy sustainability programs at scale and speed. I am currently Climate Strategy Lead at Ares Management, a leading alternative asset manager. Our climate work covers a range of asset classes—including credit, private equity, real estate, infrastructure, and secondaries. Previously, I founded and led the Climate & Energy practice at RE Tech Advisors, a Blackstone-owned consulting firm focused on sustainable buildings. I have overseen or supported 50+ carbon mitigation and energy finance programs for diverse Fortune 500 companies, federal agencies, and national governments. I also led financing and decarbonization efforts for the U.S. Department of Energy's Better Climate Challenge. Prior to RE Tech, I co-founded a start-up called Sparkfund that provides “efficiency-as-a-service” financing, ran an independent consultancy, and served as a climate analyst at ICF International. I am actively involved with the Clean Energy Leadership Institute, a non-profit that empowers the next generation of diverse energy leaders.

My family immigrated to the United States from Uzbekistan when I was one, and I've spent nearly all of my time since then thinking about how people from different backgrounds can work together to better understand one another and ultimately appreciate and honor the gift of life that we all share. Growing up in metro Atlanta, my dream was to become a professional baseball player. That didn't happen because I couldn't get my fastball up to 90mph (I blame the Uzbek genetics), but I did have the chance to live a version of that dream and play varsity baseball at Oberlin College in Ohio. There, I was heavily involved in varying forms of public service ranging from teaching environmental science to volunteering on political campaigns, and was fortunate to be named a Truman and Rhodes Scholar to pursue graduate study in political theory at the University in Oxford. After Oxford, my life took a number of unexpected but worthwhile turns, and I found myself working on the Biden 2020 campaign and eventually the White House, where I had the honor of serving alongside my parents' former colleagues at the CDC to combat COVID across the world. We saved a lot of lives because of U.S. leadership, and I’ll always believe in the capacity of people from across the world to work together for the common good as a result of that experience. Now, I'm a 3L law student and Knight-Hennessy Scholar at Stanford Law School. I spend a lot of my free time working with law school and graduate school applicants as a coach on Leland and deeply enjoy thinking through questions of meaning and purpose and what all of these fancy things we put on LinkedIn are good for. I have many thoughts on meritocratic and immigrant culture in America and am always happy to think through next steps with people. A lot of my resume might look fancy, but I've made many more mistakes than I've had successes and am still in many ways just a guy from Gwinnett County, GA who is in awe of the amazing people I've been able to meet and experiences I've been fortunate to have.
