I am a Peruvian-Canadian TEDx speaker and award-winning writer, director, producer, and actress based in Vancouver, BC, with over a decade of experience in narrative and documentary filmmaking. My work has been showcased at prestigious festivals, including Tribeca, Hot Docs, and Palm Springs. I've directed documentary pieces commissioned by New York Magazine and Nat Geo, and most recently, I produced the feature documentary Lost in the Shuffle, which premiered in the Spotlight Section at Hot Docs 2024. I am also the creator, writer, and director of the vertically shot online series Prayers For Dawn. As a producing instructor at Vancouver Film School, I continue to share my filmmaking experience, while raising my five-year-old daughter in Canada.
An outside-the-box thinker, I take pride in creating original work where my Latin American roots shine through the vibrant aesthetics of my culture. Growing up in Peru, a country with a rich geography that spans the coast, mountains, and jungle, I was immersed in a syncretism of African, Indigenous, and Spanish influences. This cultural blend has infused my work with humor, and a vivid aesthetic. In my work, I reflect the light embedded in darkness, lift the extraordinary in the ordinary, and find beauty in the ugly.
