Robert's career journey spans a diverse range of industries and roles. An electrical engineer by training, he began his professional path as a software specialist, contributing to projects for prominent companies such as Siemens, Deutsche Bank and Volkswagen. In 1999, he launched an e-payment venture, guiding it from seed stage through startup. In 2002, Robert joined BMW as a technical project manager for BMW Online and quickly advanced to oversee all traffic telematics functionalities within the car. In 2007, he established the "Navigation and Data Services" group within BMW Research and Technology, addressing innovative topics like self-learning navigation and urban mobility. Later, he led the "Personal Mobility & Adaptivity" division within BMW Research. In 2014, Robert founded LOCLET, a location-based gaming company, and served as CEO until 2016. The following year, he joined BMW Motorrad, taking on various engineering management roles and advancing the BMW Motorrad ConnectedRide product portfolio and digitalization strategy. As of September 2024, he serves as Head of BMW Startup Garage for BMW Group. Passionate about new technologies, automotive innovations, and gadgets of all kinds, Robert is a dynamic leader known for his strategic perspective, exceptional communication skills, and talent for building dedicated teams.
