Before leaving the matrix for magic 💫, this is what I did and how I spoke about my achievements:
I'm a senior marketing executive with nearly 20 years experience in brand, product and consumer marketing for leading interactive entertainment brands who are built on a true "big data" foundation with robust consumer experiences. I've had the opportunity to work with some of the most exciting digital b2b + b2c brands in the world, and now I'm helping startups navigate their way as an executive advisor. I'm also VP of Marketing at BoomTown.
I fell in love with the digital world in the late 90's just before the bubble, the first round of companies throwing lavish parties, buying Super Bowl commercials, playing ping pong tournaments at work, and enjoying "Beer Fridays." It was at a time when all of the tools and technologies that would become a definitive part of a marketers day were just being built: DoubleClick, search bidding tools (GoTo), Shopping Engines, Email marketing systems, CRM solutions. It was a foundational moment in time, and I was lucky enough to become a marketer right then.
My career choices have followed the amazing growth opportunities presented by the Internet. I love being in the center of a business who is architecting their digital experience, especially if they have an offline experience to go with it. For instance, to move from one of the first online retailers (that survived the bubble) to what continues to be the most digitally forward sports entity, MLB Advanced Media, right at the cusp of when multimedia truly hit the Web.... that was utterly amazing. Take that idea and extrapolate it across entertainment brands and more sports leagues, and then across devices and channels...there really are no barriers to the digital experience. My recent B2B experiences at Yahoo!, ShareThis and Powerlinx have only widened my view of what a consumer truly is, and how the Web can connect you to them.
My passion for work remains in the customer and their digital experience. I can't wait to look back 20 years from now to see how much farther we've come!
P.S. You can exit the matrix too.
