Can we trust AI systems to make decisions? AI is rapidly shaping our world — yet most systems are opaque, fragile, and we usually do not have any safety guarantees about their behaviour. I am doing a PhD in Safe Reinforcement Learning at Imperial College London to address this issue. I focus on building safe and robust AI systems that can generalise to unseen scenarios. I retired from Schroders in 2022 and now act as a freelance consultant providing strategic change and transformation advisory services in the Asset and Wealth Mgt space. I am also providing advice and coaching on developing leadership and people skills across any industry. I am utilising my knowledge of Investment Technology platforms and performing strategic advisory roles for Asset & Wealth Managers, Software Providers and Change Consultants. I am sought out for my in depth knowledge and experience of platform transformation and as a senior customer of systems and service providers. I have deep knowledge of the end state options, business case and implementation approach needed for major platforms such as Aladdin and E-Front from BlackRock, ALTO Investment and Wealth from Amundi and Dimension from SimCorp. My coaching program gives a unique perspective on personal development based on real experience, using real world examples. In my first career I was a senior leader within the IT, Data and Business Change functions in the Investment Management industry. In 2006 I led the MLIM – BlackRock merger for technology with overall responsibility for EMEA. Between 2007 and 2009 I was CTO at BlackRock for the EMEA region. In 2010 I initiated and led Aviva Investors Enterprise transformation program. This included delivery of the Aladdin platform from BlackRock Solutions into Singapore, US, UK and France. In 2012 I joined Schroders and progressed to run all of Asset Mgt Technology with responsibility for over 400 staff. I developed the technology transformation strategy for Front, Middle and Back office including Group Data. I led the delivery of this major transformation program that included the implementation of the Aladdin system globally, across all asset classes. I had responsibility for technology platform strategies across the business and sat on the Global Operating Committee.
