I write about security and culture and help organizations to build resilience and plan for risk.
Currently, I work with an incredible group of leaders and thinkers at OpenAI, focusing on geopolitical risk, scenario and strategic planning, and national security. Earlier in my career I was an executive at a cybersecurity company, held a writing fellowship at Berkeley, and spent seven years in the Obama administration as a speechwriter and strategist in the Defense Department.
I often speak publicly about security and technology and extremism, and my work has been featured in TIME Magazine, Foreign Policy, Lawfare, The Atlantic Monthly, Fortune Magazine, and Literary Hub, among others. I published a monograph, "A Public, Private War", about public-private cooperation for international conflict in the digital age, the findings of which were adopted into national law. I love to trail run and be outside.
