Developer with background in wide array of technologies; mainly Java and React. My most recent experience was building JEE microservices with Spring Boot and RabbitMQ. I've also been working on a home heating calculator with Code for Boston, using TypeScript, React, and Remix. I started coding in the late 90's with Excel macros, then MS Access. At a job as a data entry clerk, I wrote a VBA app that did my job for me, thus eliminating my own position. Then I started getting programming jobs on purpose, first using Access with Oracle, then learning Java and making apps for Tomcat. More recently, I worked on the Social Security Administration's Ticket to Work program, migrating their CMS system from on-prem to Azure Gov cloud. This involved a number of unexpected challenges, including rebuilding a series of custom-made, outdated J2EE webapps that were missing all their documentation, version history and config files. Also, the sites had to pass the FedRAMP certification process for the first time, but most components were too old to meet basic security requirements. Also, I was the only engineer on the project; everyone else was management. It was definitely challenging, but it got done. After that, I was the functional team lead for a project at Ameritas Insurance, developing a series of microservices to process life insurance policy commissions and issue payments. Now in production, the application handles over $15 million per week in agent compensation. Since then, I've been doing a variety of freelance and consulting tasks while I search for the perfect full-time role. This has included writing and debugging React components, upgrading WordPress plugins, creating test automation tools, and critiquing AI responses.
