I started my working life early at 13 working on weekends and school holidays clocking up thousands of hours labouring for my Dad who was a master house builder. This practical knowledge of the construction industry was invaluable in later years when inspecting work done by contractors - can you imagine a twenty-something year old out of Architecture college wearing a suit telling "Bob" how it should be done and getting into arguments with building control and the NHBC?? It was fun. Early ventures: Importing oil paintings from Taiwan at 15 got my first "business" bank account at 16. Co-started what is now regarded as a pivotal moment in the Welsh music industry: “Knightley's” where we used to showcase up-and-coming bands like the Super Furry Animals. Co-founder of a student accommodation website at my first year of uni 1992-1993 (no domain name just IP address/hyperlink). According to Google, there were only 130 websites on the “web” in mid-1993, so we can *probably* claim to have put the first real estate on the web. (People thought we were crazy) I also invented an anti-spam system that was awarded a UK patent. The system protects email addresses by “hashing” together the name/time/IP address that gives the email address harvested a limited lifespan. My understanding of this technology was the foundation to my bitcoin and the blockchain knowledge. I saw the "light" about the potential of programmable money and distributed ledger technology at the Bitcoin Expo in January 2015. I did not know anybody in the industry so I founded the N.O.M.A.N. blockchain meetup. I'm now on a mission to get rid of the term "payday" and the billion dollar industry that delays in wages has created as the founder and CEO of Etch.work . This is all possible thanks to programmable money (Ethereum) and the blockchain. I feel lucky enough to have had a dual career that I have been passionate about - construction and technology.
