From clinician to healthcare policy expert, my journey began as a Doctor of Physical Therapy with a passion for solving problems beyond individual patient care. While working in home health, I developed a program bringing total joint patients to home health instead of inpatient rehab in 2003, years before the ACA, generating significant revenue and better outcomes for patients. This experience revealed my ability to create systemic change. A defining moment came when I encountered a terminally ill patient with pancreatic cancer receiving daily therapy while in excruciating pain because the system incentivized billable units over appropriate hospice care. She died just 12 hours after I finally secured hospice services for her. That day, I committed to addressing the broken incentives in our healthcare system. My Expertise I bring unique perspectives that are often missing in healthcare policy conversations: • Translation of clinical realities into policy frameworks • Patient centered insights into value based care design • Deep understanding of post acute and serious illness care • Operational expertise in implementing alternative payment models My program leadership work spans BPCI, CJR, BPCI-A, ACOs and emerging value based models, focusing on aligning incentives between patients, providers, and payers to create sustainable change.
